About Nation of Dolls

Returning Home

Nation of dolls was created several years ago when Eusebia Leto, a retired nurse, returned home to Maripipi island, one of the 7107 islands that make up the archipelago known as the Philippines. What she saw was staggering; the once proud people were out of work and out of hope. Poverty, illiteracy and corruption had become major problems in Maripipi.

A Solution to the Problem

Eusebia came up with an idea. As a nurse she worked in the pediatric wing and made cloth dolls in her spare time for her young patients. These dolls would be the solution. Her house was converted into a workshop. Friends and family began investing in her efforts through donations of money, sewing machines, computer equipment, and textiles. Classes covered all facets of dolls crafting including how to embroider the face, stitch the hair, design the dresses, and properly stuff the doll. Also covered were the importance of self-reliance, positive thinking, and self-esteem.

Quality First

Each doll is handmade so no two dolls are the same. A rigorous quality assurance process was put in place to ensure that each doll is made correctly. If a doll doesn't meet the quality standards, it is not shipped.
